Graham Stoker chooses Vice Presidents for North, Central and South America
11 November 2021: FIA Presidential Candidate Graham Stoker has selected his Vice President candidates for the North and Central America region, and South America region.
Dante Pescetto, President of the Automobile Touring and Sports Association of Panama (ASAI), has been chosen as Vice President for Sport for North America and Central America (NACAM). A former five-time Touring Car Champion, Pescetto also competed in the FIA NACAM Rally Championship. He was appointed by NACAM as international steward for Super Copa Telcel Mexico and NASCAR Peak Mexico and has also organised a number of events across the region.
Carlos García Remohi, President of the Argentine Automobile Federation, has been chosen to continue as Vice President for Sport for Confederación Deportiva Automovilística Sudamericana (CODASUR). A mechanical engineer by profession, Remohi has been Clerk of the Course for both the Argentina Rally and the Argentina F1 Grand Prix. He was then appointed by the FIA as an International Steward for Rally Argentina and other events in the World Rally Championship.
Dante Pescetto said: “Graham has done a fantastic job as FIA Deputy President for Sport over the last 12 years and he has support from across NACAM. He will be an excellent President who focuses on the development of our sport from the ground up and I’m honoured to be part of his team.”
Carlos García Remohi: “It has been great to work alongside Graham to develop motor sport across the Americas and I Iook forward to enhancing those efforts with him as FIA President. Together we will strive to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to access motor sport, whether that’s as a driver, engineer or fan.”
Graham Stoker said: “I could not think of two people better to develop motor sport in the NACAM and CODASUR regions, and throughout the Americas, than Dante and Carlos. They have given their lives to motor sport and are leaders for the sport across the region.
“We’ve seen recently the huge interest that motor sport can generate with sell-out crowds at both the US and Mexico Grands Prix. Now it is time to ensure the sport is as strong at the ground level as it is at the top, and with the support of Dante and Carlos we’ll further build the grassroots events and championships across the region for the benefit of all.”
